how does a french link snaffle go in a horse's mouth?
Ok..... I have a french link snaffle eggbutt bit -- Korsteel. It's got the flat dog bone in the center and the sides -- the bars are curved. I hope this makes sense! Which way should it sit on the horse's tongue? Should the curved part go up or down on the tongue?

you see where it's raised on the ends. So, the raised part go up towards the front teeth right?
how do you respond to these posts?? Anyway, went outside and put the bit in again. I SEE now LOL!! GEEZE! ok, so the curve doesn't go up or down. The curve part faces out so that it is kind of hugging the side of her mouth. Makes total sense now. So, the dog bone doesn't sit flat on the tongue?? It was hard to open her mouth up to see how that bone was sitting.
the curve of the bars should be facing out, if that makes sense. it's really better to see it. when you put together the bridle, attach the bit to the bridle cheek pieces at the top of the rings, so that the curve of the bars is facing out (like the curve of the brow band). then when you attach the reins and put it on your horse the curve will be facing the front of the horse's mouth. so to answer your direct question, the bars don't curve up or down directly on the horse's tongue, the curved part goes out and the part on the tongue is flat.
