How to find information on a Simco Saddle?
Well I bought an old Simco saddle at an auction last night for $27.50. The number on the tie carrier and back of the saddle is 5350. I don't much about it, but plan on using it. Its in good shape and just needs to be cleaned. I called the Simco Longhorn company but they are not open on week ends. So can YOU tell me anything about this saddle?
Simco is a rather generic saddle, "Cookie-cutter" if you will. Meaning that they basically make a one-size-fits all saddle tree. Now these saddles may work on some horses, I know a few that have. But I personally steer clear of them since the majority of them are not what you'd call good saddle.
I stick to other more infamous saddles such as Blue Ridge, Record Breaker and Black Rhino. These are made custom and fit most horses like a glove. However, we all want our horses comfort to come first so it's really just about wether or not it is a good fit on your horse.
